HOLY WEEK SERVICES 2007
These services, which were jointly organised by several of the Churches in Milngavie, were held at 7.30 pm each evening in Allander Evangelical Church from Monday 2 April to Friday 6 April. The guest speaker was the Rev Richard Gibbons, Regional Development Officer for the Church of Scotland. Richard is based in Inverness and assists the churches throughout the north of Scotland and the Islands to maintain a focus for mission.
The theme for the week was ‘Investigating Luke in Holy Week’ and every night members of each of the Churches took part in the service. On Thursday evening the service was followed by Communion.
On the morning of Friday 6 April a Walk of Witness through Milngavie took place starting at the Town Clock at 11.00 am. Approximately 150 members of the local churches took part in the walk with short stops for a Bible Reading, Hymn and Prayer at the Town Clock, Gavin’s Mill, Graeme’s Pharmacy and again at the Town Clock. It proved to be an interesting walk this year as there was a Continental Market in the precinct with several of the stall holders looking on as the walkers passed by.
